Framework for IMPACT
(Induction and Mentoring Practices to A»å±¹²¹²Ô³¦±ðÌýCareer-Long Teaching)
The ÌÇÐÄvlog (ÌÇÐÄvlog) recognizes the essential role that induction and mentoring play in retaining educators, advancing instructional effectiveness, and improving student outcomes. The Framework for Induction and Mentoring Practices to Advance Career-Long Teaching (Framework for IMPACT) offers a flexible, systemic approach to support and sustain effective, classroom-ready teachers across the state. It provides evidence-based guidance, tools, and resources to help Local Education Agencies (LEAs)—including small rural districts, urban schools, and suburban communities—create and sustain environments where educators thrive and continuously grow in their professional practice.
Affirming a culture of continuous growth, the Framework for IMPACT emphasizes equity, diversity, knowledge building, and ongoing professional learning. It is aligned with the New York State Mentoring Standards, the New York State Teaching Standards, the New York State version of the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (PSELs), the Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework,Ìý, and principles of adult learning theory.
The Framework for IMPACT is designed to support the continuous development of a diverse educator workforce, including aspiring educators (e.g., teaching assistants and school support staff seeking certification, high school students exploring teaching careers), future educators (e.g., student teachers), novice educators who are new to the profession, educators who are new to a school, grade level, subject area, or LEA, and early career educators.
